The Radiant Birth Book
The Radiant Birth book is a resource of knowledge and wisdom and also "a piece of us". With contributions from birth workers and educators including Soft Centre, Michaela Rinkel, Vaughne Geary, Bannie Williams, Shannon May Powell, Josephine Hipwell, the Living Doula and Yahna Fookes, this book was lovingly curated for mothers and birthing people as they prepare for supported birth and postpartum. It also contains three delicious recipes by postpartum chef and doula Jessica Prescott that you can enjoy making in preparation for your baby's arrival.
Within these pages you’ll find moving poems, what to expect in each stage of labour, breath work to help you move through transition, to how to plan for a thriving postpartum period and much more. Throughout the book are prompts for reflection as well as our 18-page ‘More than a Birth Plan’ section which walks you through key questions to consider as you develop your birth intentions.
With original illustrations by artist/mother Gem Leslie this book is a keep sake that also has space to journal in so you can look back on this time and reflect on how far you’ve come.

Josie Hipwell is the owner of Radiant Birth, a full-spectrum doula, and a mother of two. Based in Melbourne’s north, her work is grounded in community, continuity of care and deep respect for the transformative nature of birth and motherhood.
Josie’s path into birth work unfolded through her own experiences of pregnancy, birth and matrescence, alongside a lifetime of holding space for others. After becoming a mother, she felt a clear calling to work in the birth space and became a qualified doula in 2021. At the heart of Josie’s philosophy is the belief that there is no single right way to birth or mother. Her work supports people to feel informed, supported and safe to choose what feels right for them, as they move through the profound transitions of birth and early parenthood.
Birth is both intimate and expansive. It is a rite of passage unlike any other. Radiant Birth exists to help you meet it with knowledge, curiosity, confidence, trust in yourself and your support team. Through immersive workshops, personalised doula care, and a nurturing community, Radiant Birth support women, birthing people and families across Melbourne and beyond. This is preparation for your whole self.
