The comprehensive guide to rebuilding your health and reclaiming your energy for new Mothers.
While postpartum depression has become a recognisable condition, THE POSTNATAL DEPLETION CURE is the first book to treat root causes of the baby blues, extreme fatigue, baby brain and other symptoms that leave mothers feeling exhausted.
A must-read for all new mothers who want to prepare for postpartum and understand the relationship between depletion and depression.
Filled with trustworthy advice, protocols for successful recovery, and written by a compassionate expert in women's health, this book is a guide to help any mother restore her energy, replenish her body and reclaim her sense of self.
Most mothers have experienced pain, forgetfulness, indecision, low energy levels, or some form of baby brain. And it's no wonder: the process of growing a baby depletes a mother's body in substantial ways. But with postnatal care ending after six weeks, most women never learn how to rebuild their strength and care for their bodies after childbirth. As a result, they can suffer from the effects of depletion for many years, without knowing what's wrong as well as getting the support and treatments that they need.

PRAISE
When Dr. Serrallach first wrote about postnatal depletion on goop, he hit a nerve - particularly with the revelation that some women in his practice experience the after-effects of having a child for seven to ten years later. It shouldn't be this way, nor does it have to be: this is the comprehensive guide to women's health for every mother - new, or years out - who has ever felt tired, rundown, or just not like herself. With great empathy and wisdom, Dr. Serrallach explains how to restore your health and vitality using nutrition, gentle exercises, and simple strategies to get you to finally feel like yourself again. - Gwyneth Paltrow
Oscar is a general medical practitioner and has for many years been dedicated to remaining at the cutting edge of wellness healthcare. His dedication led him down the path of studying and practising functional medicine while addressing the multifactorial aspects of health and wellbeing. He’s been on the board and served as the editor for the Australasian College of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine for many years and frequently presents for the college.
Oscar is well known in the field of postnatal health through personal family experience. He actually has three young children, a great learning experience for any practitioner, but also through the lens of functional integrative medicine. He came to realize the huge impact that nutritional, environmental and lifestyle have on the postnatal period, a period we have all been through. And the impact of it is, as you will hear, huge.
Oscar brings his knowledge of postnatal depletion and the fourth trimester, which traditionally has been thought to last for only a few months. The Postnatal Depletion Cure is fabulous and he has also created a unique working environment working exclusively with a highly skilled and diverse team at the Health Lodge in Byron Bay, Northern New South Wales.
- Dr Ron Ehrlich
I have written this book to answer a question many women ask: “How do I get my life and myself back after becoming a mother?” How do you find the strength to deal with your needs when our society tells us to focus entirely on the needs of the baby, causing you to disappear into the shadows of your predestined role? This infant-centered focus is something I witnessed in my practice as a doctor and as a father watching my extraordinary partner, Caroline, struggle after the birth of our children. It has been consistently mentioned by almost every mom I’ve spoken to, in contexts that vary from energy to illness to time management to self-confidence.
This is a huge hole in our thinking and treatment of new mothers. Worse, it’s a hole that gets bigger and bigger because it’s not discussed from a medical point of view. Postpartum depression, yes. Postnatal depletion? Say what? There’s not even healthy dialogue around this concept, let alone healthy societal awareness and information.
What’s just as, if not more, important to note is that postnatal depletion doesn’t just affect new mothers—it affects all mothers. If a new mom isn’t allowed to fully recover from the demanding requirements of pregnancy and birth, the aftereffects can last for years. I’ve treated women who were still depleted ten years after their babies were born. And if you then take into account the stress and sleeplessness associated with raising tweens and teenagers, coupled with the hormonal effects of perimenopause and menopause, it can become a pretty grim journey if mothers aren’t truly supported and allowed to recover.
“If a new mom isn’t allowed to fully recover from the demanding requirements of pregnancy and birth, the aftereffects can last for years. I’ve treated women who were still depleted ten years after their babies were born.”
I know that this condition is real, and I know there is no need for you to suffer. There is almost a subconscious badge of honor associated with a mom’s ability to juggle motherhood and child care with returning to work as soon as possible. Our Western culture has done mothers a great disservice by not honoring them on their road to recovery and giving them the time they need to adjust to the monumental changes in their lives. This needs to change! It is my hope that I can play a role in helping change the narrative of how we think about postpartum care, and it is urgent that we do. It was out of necessity that I went on a quest to help my darling partner, Caroline, back to health. But she helped me discover the reasons why mothers get so depleted, and what can be done to help them back to full functioning.

from 17 reviewsOne of the cleanest/shortest list of ingredients I've seen on the market. This and Wotnot are great. Will definitely be buying again when run out.
Pleasant smell, nourishes my skin really nicely. Wish I purchased earlier whilst still pregnant, but oh well, never too late to get started I guess. Will buy again when I run out.
Beautifully packaged & feels so nourishing to drink
Silverettes are nipple saviours! Would do postpartum without them.
My daughter loved the gift card! It was perfect for me because I am in the United States and she lives in Australia.
This is my 2nd time buying these cookies. They’re delicious and feel healthier than what I’m able to make at home. Great for a daytime snack or very early in morning to help with staying awake while breastfeeding. Will definitely buy again!!
Delicious and super easy way to start the morning. Have been using this as a morning coffee replacement and am happy with the results. Will but again and now want to try the other options in this range.
I wore these from the very start of my bf journey, and though its a bit of a rough journey for nipples, mine never got red / cracked / bleeding and I praise these little gems for that!
I've been insatiably ravenous while breastfeeding and these biccies are the perfect one handed treat!
My wonderful Radiant Birth book came beautifully packaged with thoughtful personalised note & crystal. A wonderful experience with WOOM.
A book that everyone needs before they give birth. Do yourself a favour, it read and savour it. It could change your entire postpartum period.
Absolute life changer I have been using foraged for 2 months now and it increases my energy, mood and makes me feel all round better. I honestly couldn't live without it again
Such a beautiful nourishing product, perfect for any stage of motherhood. It has changed my life since taking it, so much energy and clarity of mind.
MAGIC!
Bought one as a gift and one for me - this product is stunning. Smells amazing, feels so lovely on the skin and the little flowers in the bottle make it feel like a real treat!
Honestly, I wish I did my research before because Foraged has been incredible to my body. The first time having it in my smoothie I went without a coffee for days. Eventually when I had coffee it wasn’t because my body craved it but just a social habit. My energy levels, mood, everything elevated and I’m feeling great. I will forever rave about this product. Give it a go mama!
